Energy efficient labels indicate how well an electrical appliance is at being energy efficient. It uses a star-rating system with 1-star being the lowest rating; while a 5-star rating being the highest. The label was introduced by Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) in 2006 and can only be found on electrical products which meet the energy efficiency standards tests.
Fans, televisions, air-conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and microwave ovens all require a label before it can be sold. So consider getting a 5-star rating product the next time you shop around for any of these products. The benefits are adding up as many stars as possible is that you stand to save more energy, thus more savings will be reflected in your energy bill. Being energy efficient directly lowers your carbon footprint too resulting in less damage to our planet.

The labels are mostly found either on the front or the side of a product. If those faces don’t present any, try looking at the back!
